Welcome to the District VII Choral Directors Association Visitor Page! The LMEA District VII CDA is a not for profit organization whose membership consists mostly of choral directors and vocal music educators in St. Charles, St. Mary, Terrebonne, Lafourche, and St. James parishes in Louisiana. The District VII CDA exists as part of the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) in affiliation with the Music Educators National Conference (MENC). The CDA also supports and encourages membership in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and its state affiliate, the LA-ACDA. Services provided by the District VII CDA include, but are not limited to: · District Elementary Honor Choir · District Junior High Mixed Honor Choir · District Treble Honor Choir · District Senior High Honor Choir · 1st Round LMEA Senior High All-State Choir Auditions and rehearsals for 2nd Round All-State Auditions · Monthly Meetings for directors and mentors for new director in the area. · Assist in the administration of the LMEA Solo and Small Ensemble Festivals in this area. · Assist in the administration of the LMEA District VII Large Ensemble Festival

*** Note: This year, a women’s all-state choir will be formed as well to perform the same weekend. Auditions will be the same for all and the women will be chosen from the second round qualifiers. Please be patient with the district as well as the state as we all get accustomed to new schedules! 1st Round Audition Info: · Sat., 9/12/2009: Audition at HL Bourgeois. Bourgeois · 10/6/2009 6:00-8:00pm LMEA All-State 2nd Round Rehearsal at H.L. Bourgeois · Note: To qualify for the scholarship drawing, your Honor Choir paperwork must be turned in by October 13. (postmarked or in person) Don’t know about the scholarship? Ask your director! All-State Choir Info · Thursday, 11/19/2009 Check-in at the Holiday Inn Select in Baton Rouge · Friday-Saturday 11/20-21/2009, Rehearsals ending with a performance on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Select in Baton Rouge.

The District VII By-Laws were revised in May of 2007 and are available for review to all members.
